Key features

The whole goal, touch for touch

The sprint, the chip over the diving keeper, the shift that sends both defenders sliding, the finish into the empty net. Every touch lands at the same moment as in Mesut Özil's 2016 solo goal, filmed from pitch level under the floodlights in one continuous shot.

In your own clothes, or on four paws

Pick Person and the scorer is you in the outfit from your photo, cardigan, hoodie or suit, not a football kit. Pick Pet and your dog or cat takes the run, chips the keeper and taps it home with its paws.

How to use

  1. 01

Upload one clear full-body photo of a person, or a photo of your pet.

  3. 03

Generate the 13-second clip and download it.

Deep dive

Mesut Özil's solo goal from November 2016 is the kind of finish people still replay: a sprint onto a long ball, a cheeky chip over the keeper, two defenders sent sliding the wrong way and a calm roll into the empty net. Ten years later it came back as a trend. The scorer is no longer Özil but whoever you want, and the versions people share most star grandmas in cardigans, dads in their good jacket and the family dog.

This template makes that clip from a single photo. Pick Person and you take the run in the outfit from your photo, under the floodlights, filmed from pitch level beside you. Pick Pet and your dog or cat does it on four paws. The keeper, the two defenders and every touch stay exactly where they were in the original goal.

The result is a 13-second vertical clip, ready to post. For the best likeness, use a clear, full-body photo with good light and one person or one animal in it.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Ozil goal trend?+

A remake of Mesut Özil's solo goal from November 2016: he raced onto the ball, chipped the onrushing keeper, let two defenders slide past and rolled it into the empty net. In October 2026 people started recasting the scorer, and the favourite versions star grandmas, uncles in their Sunday best and pets.

Will it look like me?+

Recognisably you: your face, hair and the clothes in your photo carry over, though not pixel for pixel. A full-body photo works best because it shows your build and outfit. Use only photos of adults who agree to be in the video.

Can my dog or cat score it?+

Yes, pick Pet. Your animal keeps its own face, ears, fur and markings and plays the whole goal on four legs, paws and all. Pets vary more from run to run than people, so if one result misses, generate again.

Can I put a footballer or celebrity in it?+

Please don't. Use your own photo, a friend or family member who said yes, or your pet. Photos of public figures or strangers are not allowed.

How long is the video and what shape?+

Thirteen seconds, 9:16 vertical. It renders at 480p by default, or 720p if you choose it.

Is this connected to Mesut Özil or any club?+

No. This is an unofficial fan template inspired by the trend. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Mesut Özil, any club, league or broadcaster.
